Mr Robert (Bob) Moses, AB, MBABob Moses

Chairman, Non-Executive Director

Bob was appointed Chairman of the TGR board in January 2005. He brings more than 35 years of executive and board experience in the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, including 8 years as General Manager International/Corporate Vice President at CSL Ltd, during which time he played a central role in CSL's international expansion. Bob is currently Chairman of Antisense Therapeutics Ltd and Sylvan Scientific Ltd, a director of the CRC for Polymers, and a consultant to the Murdoch Children's Research Institute.

Prior to joining CSL, Bob was Managing Director of commercial law firm, Freehills. He was also the founder and CEO/Chairman of two technology start-ups, one of which he took to listing on NASDAQ. Other former roles include Chairman of Amrad Corp and Meditech Research Ltd, Corporate Manager of New Business Development at ICI (now Orica) and 17 years in various management roles in the multinational pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly.

 

 


 

Dr Leanna Read PhD, FTSELeanna Read

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Leanna Read has been CEO and Managing Director of TGR since she managed the Company's spin-out from the CRC for Tissue Growth and Repair in 2001. Leanna is a physiologist by training, with over 90 scientific papers and patents, as well as over 20 years of experience in research and commercialisation of bioactives. She has been CEO of successful research and commercial ventures, including the Child Health Research Institute and the CRC for Tissue Growth and Repair.

Leanna's industry contributions have been recognized by appointment to the boards of national bodies including the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council and the Federal Government's Industry R&D Board, and the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council. She is currently a member of the SA Economic Development Board and the SA Premier's Science and Research Council. She holds adjunct professorial appointments at Flinders University and the University of SA. Leanna has been the recipient of various awards including the Flinders University Convocation Medal, a Doctor of the University of SA, the inaugural Industry Service Award by the Australian Biotechnology Association and the 2006 South Australian of the Year (Science and Technology).



 

Dr Mike Hirshorn MBA, MBBS, FFin, FTSEMike Hirshorn

Non-Executive Director

Mike joined the TGR board in 2005, in conjunction with the investment from his venture capital fund, Nanyang Innovation Fund. He continues to manage that fund under his company, Four Hats Capital. He brings a 30-year career in founding, building and investing in technology companies. These include roles as founder and CEO of Cochlear and founding director of Resmed. The combined market cap of these two companies is now over $4 billion. Mike is currently the chairman of the Cochlear Foundation.

Mike has extensive international management expertise in all operational areas, as well as over eight years of private equity experience in raising funds, investing in companies and growing them to successful exits and IPOs. He has been a director on the board of many companies and is currently chairman of VKardia Pty Ltd and a director of ITL Ltd and Dynamic Hearing Pty Ltd. Mike's contributions to commercialising technology have been recognised by several prestigious awards, including an Order of Australia Medal, as well as his appointment to the AVCAL council.

 

 


 

Mr John Bastian, BBusJohn Bastion

Non-Executive Director

John was the inaugural Chairman of TGR and remained in that position until Bob Moses was appointed. He has extensive experience in the manufacture, distribution and sales of technological products, including 15 years at Sola Optical, where he held roles such as international marketing manager and then managing director. During his time at Sola Optical, the company underwent a period of rapid growth which saw its listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

John was until recently Deputy Chair of the SA Economic Development Board and he is currently a director or chair of a range of companies involved in agriculture, medical devices and engineering. Past roles have also included his own consulting business.

 

 


 

Mr Andrew Sneddon, BEcon, CAAndrew Sneddon

Non-Executive Director

Andrew joined the TGR Board in February 2008 following retirement from his position as a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). In his PWC role, Andrew led the technology practise for a period of time and specialised in fast growth and emerging technology companies working with many companies from start ups to successful global corporations. In more recent years he was the partner leading the firm's Australian Life Sciences Practice.

Andrew has extensive experience in a wide range of technical areas including mergers and acquisitions, business and strategic planning, audit, valuation, capital raising and stock exchange listings on the Australian, NASDAQ and London Stock Exchanges. He has worked across a broad range of industries and is currently the chairman of Advanced Composites International Pty Ltd, Global Bionic Optics Ltd, CustomWare Pty Ltd, Liquitab Systems Ltd, InterAcct Solutions Pty Ltd and Elastagen Pty Ltd. He is also a member of the Audit and Compliance Committees of the Crescent Capital Private Equity Funds.

Anne Hinton, MSc, CAAnne Hinton

Chief Finance Officer, Company Secretary and Personnel Manager

Anne was appointed to TGR in 2001. In addition to her formal training as a Chartered Accountant, she brings extensive financial experience gained across a range of industry sectors through former positions with KPMG and then her own consulting practice. In the latter role, Anne project managed the initial public offering of GroPep Ltd culminating with the listing of GroPep on the ASX.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Michael Crouch, PhD, Chief Scientific OfficerMichael Crouch


A cell biologist by training, Michael was appointed in 2001 to develop and manage TGR's screening technologies program. In 2008 he also assumed the role of Chief Scientific Officer to oversee all the R&D effort of the Company. He has been responsible for the conception, implementation and market launch of TGR's SureFire® assay kit technology, and he was pivotal in securing a $1.9M Commercial Ready grant in March 2008 to develop new assay technologies. Michael has over 50 publications in the cell signaling field. Previous R&D positions were held at Burroughs Wellcome (USA), the Australian National University and GroPep Ltd. Michael is the 2009 recipient of the prestigious Advancing BioBusiness Award.
